This custom Bourbon barrel head was commissioned for a couple getting married this week. It's awesome being a part of someone special day!

I've never done a #meetthemaker post before so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I'm Jay and this my lovely wife/ultimate supporter, Mary.

I'm a self-taught woodworker that got started 15+ years ago when I wanted to build my own poker table. I started with #scrollsawart nearly three years ago when I watched a video created by @onceuponaworkbench. It's now my favorite thing and has become a fun little side hustle.

I make a living as a digital marketer at @uoflhealth. Mary and I have been married 18+ years and have three kids.

Outside of woodworking, I love LEGO, video games, the Minnesota Vikings and fantasy football.

Woodworking has been such a positive experience for me and I've met so many wonderful people. I'm looking forward to meeting more people and learning new things in the very near future. Thanks for the support!

This big yellow box showed up my front porch two years ago. I've worked on over 600 projects since then and even upgraded to a Pegas scroll saw. I had no idea that a scroll saw could have such a positive impact on my life!

Here's a custom piece I made right before Christmas. It was ordered by a group of employees (see second picture) for their boss with each of their favorite traits about her. Their boss (one of my friends) originally ordered signs for each of them and then they turned around and ordered one for her. Very cool.

2020 had its challenges but I wouldn't say it was all bad. I had the opportunity to meet so many nice people (including the Vikings head coach) and make some really cool pieces. Even getting some heat from a trademark company about using team logos (and having to delete most of my IG posts) didn't kill my buzz. Here are some of my favorite projects from 2020. Happy 2021!

This custom 27x13" name sign was a commissioned piece for a friend of a friend. Not sure what you call the background pattern but I think it's pretty cool.

I made a Diver Down flag Bourbon barrel head as part of a Christmas order for a scuba diving enthusiast. I love seeing the wood grain.

Here's a custom Home Away From Home Bourbon barrel head I made for @daniellen215 for Christmas. I always appreciate the opportunity to create custom pieces that will hang in someone's home!

Here's a cool family name sign I made for a Christmas gift. I was asked to incorporate a shamrock. The letters were cut from 1/4" Baltic Birch and the shamrock was 1/8". I love the barn-style wood too.

A good how-to on sharing User-Generated Content on Instagram. I really liked the suggestion of including your branded hashtag in the bio section. https://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/how-to-use-user-generated-content-on-instagram
